Danny Schur
Six-time
Canadian Music Award-nominated-album composer/producer
Danny Schur came to prominence in the Canadian music
industry with a broad background in composition, production
and performance.
Danny's recent successes include the composition of
the Official Theme Song for the 1999 Pan Am Games, "Americas,
Come & Play" as well as direct involvement
in the careers of Chantal Kreviazuk (Sony), Tara-Lyn
Hart (Sony) and McMaster & James (BMG).
Born in 1966 and raised in Ethelbert, Manitoba, Danny
showed an inquisitive interest in music as early as
age three. The solitude of his native rural area was
responsible for his subsequent immersion in the study
of piano and the synthesizer. He remains a gifted pianist
and a respected authority on computers, electronic music
and recording technology.
Danny studied composition with Doctor Michael Mathews
and Doctor Robert Turner, and piano with Doctor Charles
Horton at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada.
It was Doctor Robert Turner who once said to Danny,
"Your compositions show a certain Broadway influence".
Danny wrote "The Bridge" in 1991 as a commission
to celebrate 100 Years of Ukrainian Settlement in Canada.
With unprecedented boldness, Danny single-handedly secured
venture capital to bring the work to its World Premiere
in Winnipeg in October, 2000!
Danny is the founder of Boomtalk Musical Production,
Inc. In addition to his work as composer, record producer
and video director, Danny's work includes the oratorio,
"Vlad of Kiev" (composed to commemorate the
1000th Anniversary of Ukrainian Christianity) and the
musical "The Tree." Danny is currently writing
his third musical "The Strike" based on the
1919 Winnipeg General Strike.
